San Martin de los Andes ride and camp
If you would like to come riding and try a couple of nights camping this is our proposal:
Day 1: Arrive in San Martin de los Andes.
During the afternoon we will go on a ride, getting to know the horses. This is a good ride for all levels, following trails in the forest and enjoying the scenery, lovely views
from the mountain top of the lake and the foothills of the Andes. (Maximum 3 hours riding.)
Our horses are criollos, well mannered and bred in this area. The riding is neck rein, western style.
When we get back to base camp drinks and a home cooked dinner will be waiting for us.
Night in mountain cabin or hosteria (to be arranged when we plan the trip).
Day 2: After breakfast we set off on a full day ride with a picnic lunch, going up across the mountain, following narrow cattle tracks through indigenous
forests of “nothafagus”, fantastic scenic views and a good ride all round
Dinner and night at the cabin or hosteria.
Day 3 - 4 - 5: After breakfast we will to a new site where the horses will be ready waiting for us to start a 2 night camping ride up a beautiful valley, natural forests and mountain rivers.
We will stop for a picnic lunch, a short siesta and continue to where we will set up our first
camp site (6 hours riding).
Dinner will be cooked on an open fire and we will enjoy the beautiful southern stars. Spend
the night camping.
Returning to San Martín de los Andes the last morning, leaving behind many good memories of a lovely time shared by all.
Spend the night at the hosteria in San Martin de los Andes, a warm bed a shower will be welcome. Farewell dinner.
Day 6: After breakfast we can return to Lolog for a morning ride, go shopping in San Martin de los Andes or just relax with a good book before you continue your travels.
Options to extend:
Try a ride in another area of San Martín de los Andes or some fly fishing in some of the best rivers in Patagonia. You could also add a couple of days with our Chile program.
All our programs are tailormade, please contact us for further information.
